The Landlord Risk Mitigation Program expands rental housing options for residents in southern New Mexico by supporting landlords who open their units to tenants facing barriers to housing. Delivered in partnership with the City of Las Cruces and Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, the program encourages property owners to rent to households who rely on vouchers, are exiting homelessness, or have limited rental histories.
Through this collaboration, landlords may receive reimbursement for certain property damages or lost rent, reducing financial risk and strengthening trust between property owners, tenants, and service providers. The program helps keep more rental homes available to low-income residents and supports long-term housing stability across the region.
