Expanding Shelter, Treatment, and Housing Navigation Across New Mexico

The Office of Housing, within the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, is investing in facilities and operations that provide safe shelter, treatment, and housing navigation services for people experiencing homelessness. Through partnerships with the local communities, City of Albuquerque, these projects expand capacity, strengthen service coordination, and help residents move from crisis to stability.

Agape House

Total State Investment: $1.6 million

About the Project:

Located in Santa Fe, Agape House expands shelter capacity in northern New Mexico while providing day services and outreach to people living unsheltered. State funding supports facility updates, expanded programming, and street-outreach operations that connect residents to healthcare, treatment, and long-term housing resources.

Total State Investment: $6.5 million

About the Project:

The Office of Housing is providing critical support to sustain Gateway West, which already serves more than 600 people nightly with safe shelter and essential services. This $6.5 million investment is helping strengthen operations and improve facilities, ensuring continued stability and safety for residents experiencing homelessness.

Gateway Men’s Housing and Treatment Navigation Center

Total State Investment: $2.7 million

Number of Beds: 42

About the Project:

The Men’s Navigation Center offers short-term housing and individualized case management for men transitioning out of homelessness. Residents receive help obtaining identification, connecting to health and treatment services, and applying for permanent housing in a trauma-informed environment.

Gateway Women’s Housing and Treatment Navigation Center

Total State Investment: $1.35 million

Number of Beds: 50

Number of new Beds with State Support: 50

About the Project:

This center provides a safe, supportive setting for women experiencing homelessness. State funding enables expansion to 100 total beds and supports wraparound services including treatment navigation, health referrals, and housing placement assistance.

Gateway First Responder Receiving Area

Total State Investment: $1.3 million

Number of Beds: 20 short-term stabilization beds

About the Project:

Operating 24/7, the First Responder Receiving Area allows police, fire, and EMS to safely transfer individuals in crisis to care. The facility provides immediate stabilization and rapid connection to treatment and housing resources, reducing strain on emergency departments.

Gateway Medical Respite

Total State Investment: $3 million

Number of Beds: 50 short-term stabilization beds

About the Project:

Gateway Medical Respite – providing safe, medically supervised space where people will receive continued treatment to recover from illness or injury. State funding was used to replace the leaking roof of this part of the Gateway facility.

Young Adult Gateway Housing and Treatment Navigation Center

Total State Investment: $862,500

teway Young Adult Housing and Treatment Navigation Center provides safe, supportive housing and individualized services for young adults ages 18-25 experiencing homelessness. The intent is to help them build a clear path toward stability, independence and long-term success.
