As part of the state’s investments to address housing and homelessness, the Office of Housing is providing Code Blue funding to help service providers respond quickly and safely during extreme weather. When dangerously cold temperatures threaten people living unsheltered, this support allows nonprofits to increase outreach, open additional low-barrier beds, extend warming services, and offer hot meals and indoor safety.
These investments strengthen local emergency response systems and ensure that New Mexicans have access to lifesaving shelter and support during severe winter conditions preventing hypothermia, frostbite, and weather-related deaths while connecting people to longer-term housing resources.
